MELISSA HOLMES CREATIVE COPYWRITING
Word nerdery that helps you get your message across
The go-to tone of voice copywriter, for copy that speaks your language.
I love words. LOVE THEM. I’ve always loved them. Yes, that’s me in the photo, reading and eating. Nothing changes. Except perhaps the all-out Laura Ashley. What can I say? It was the eighties; my mum had style.
All sorts of stuff makes my heart happy. Like zipping about on my rollerskates, throwing myself into icy cold water, listening to my kids play nicely together (like, when hell freezes over)...
But what makes my heart super happy is being a business owner. More specifically, being a business owner where I get to help other business owners with one of my favourite things: words.
I want to help make your business a success. Mash my word nerdery – more than twenty years as a writer and editor, a ton of training and a lovely smattering of awards – with your products and services, and let’s see what magic we can create.
Recent projects
I had the pleasure of working on copywriting for Mellow Mummas, a holistic business which offers mindful practices and experiences for pregnancy and beyond. Founder Jenny asked me to create social media captions to spread the word about forthcoming retreats.
The founder of Sunken Studio – a co-working ceramics studio in Yorkshire – approached me to write blogs, social media captions and email newsletters for the business, with the ultimate aim of attracting more membership sign-ups. This client has been a pleasure to work with: if it helps spread the message of how creativity can lead to joy, then I am here for it!
I have been working with Princes Square, a high-end shopping centre in Glasgow, since early 2022. As their go-to freelance copywriter, I support the team with tone of voice guidelines, email newsletters, and advertorials for publications including the Herald magazine. I've also done a lot of strategy work with them, helping devise seasonal campaigns for the mall, write influencer/press event invitations, and create advertising straplines which have been seen across Scotland.
Haven Holidays, national press
In Autumn 2021 I was approached by Reach PLC to go on a family break to a Haven holiday park. I wrote up our experiences and created video and image content which was used across Haven's socials and in the national press.
"I could not be happier with this work. Exceeded my expectations. Well researched and written.
"Thank you so much. Highly recommended and will definitely be using you again."
